ICARLY

ICarly is a brilliant show.
ICarly is an American children's television series that focuses on a girl named Carly Shay. Carly creates her own web show called ICarly with her best friends Sam and Freddie. The series stars Miranda Cosgrove as Carly, Jennette McCurdy as Sam, Nathan Kress as Freddie and Jerry Trainor as Spencer and was created by Dan Schneider, who also serves as executive producer. The show is taped at Nickelodeon On Sunset in Hollywood. The show first showed on Nickelodeon on 8 September 2007.

This is a great show because it is about a girl in her teens and it is brilliant for girls who are slightly younger than this.

Orchard VS Abbotswood

On Thursday the 24th of March the netball team played their second netball match against Abbotswood. There is an A team. The A team was made up of: Sophie, Lauren, Jessica, Adele, Emma – Louise, Beth and Rachel. Luckily Orchard won 4 – 3!We won our second match! Yay!!!!

Adele

Adele is a very beautiful and talented singer. She is 22 and is from Tottenham, London, England. She is a fantastic singer and I love her. She has had two CDs out. Her first was called 19 and her current one is called 21. It even reached number 1 in the UK! My favourite song by Adele is ‘Rolling in the Deep’ which I absolutely love because it’s really catchy. Adele won two Grammy Awards, Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, at the 51st Grammy Awards. You should definitely buy her album because she’s great!

Blue Screen/Green Screen filming

Blue Screen or Green Screen filming is where you act in front of the screen whilst someone is filming you. In case you didn’t know, blue screen filming and green screen filming are exactly the same apart from the colour of the screen. You hook the camera up to the computer so you can put the film on to Windows Movie Maker. All you have to do then is connect a photo or short clip to the clip that you made. You may need an adult who knows a lot to do with computers to help you along with the process! Our class in Year 6 have been doing this in class. Have a look at some of the clips we made:

http://www.orchard6hw.blogspot.com/

We had to do them on our favourite events after the war and my group chose to do the one on Princess Diana’s wedding. Check them out!

Super sweet 16

TV program

Super Sweet 16 is a TV show which films people celebrating their 16th birthday. They are very rich, they have loads of money and they are also really spoilt.

The people on the show always have a good party but they get in a strop sometimes! I watch it on Channel 21 which is viva. I find this show really enjoyable and really funny.

girlgogames

Girl Go Games is a gaming website for girls. There are all sorts of games you can play, for instance dressing up, celebrities, house decoration, make-up, quizzes, cooking and action. This game has a range of over 300 games so there’s got to be at least one game that each girl will like! My personal favourite game is ‘Celebrity dress up’ because you get to dress up celebrities such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. I actually think this kind of game is for real girlie girls as well as girls who spend all their time on computers.

Orchard vs Bartley

On Friday the 18th of March the netball A and B team played an away match in the league against Bartley! In the A team are: Lauren, Sophie, Lucy, Adele, Beth, Emma Louise, Jess and Kate. In the B team are: Charlotte, Georgia, Alice, Olivia, Anna, Francesca and Sophia. Unfortunately the A team lost 6 – 0, also the B team lost 7 - 1. Don’t worry though Orchard, it was only our 1st match and it was their 4th!!!

Help for heroes

Help for heroes is a charity that supports our local heroes.

Help for Heroes say: “It’s about the 'blokes', our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, and it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

Help for Heroes is a charity set up to support those people that try to save other people in war, but have ended up hurt themselves and then become badly disabled. Help for Heroes have already raised £87,898 million. These are some of the ways that they raise money: a charity run, selling teddies, car boot sales and many more.

On Friday 18th February, Help for Heroes held a small gathering to mark an exciting moment in the charity’s history. They were given the keys to Tedworth House in the garrison town of Tedworth, celebrating the fact that they are now one step nearer to putting in place systems that will make sure the wounded heroes are looked after for life. Tedworth House lets soldiers stay there and be looked after for as long as they need it. It also helps them find jobs and learn life skills.

Help for Heroes is a very good cause and worth supporting.

Question of Sport

Question of Sport is a quiz show on BBC. It’s usually shown on a Friday at around 7:30pm. The presenter is Sue Barker and there are two team captains, Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell. They have special sports guest’s as their team mates - they’ve even had the Queen’s grand daughter! The show started on the 2nd December 1968, which is 42 years ago! They play different rounds of sports games and my favourite round is Mystery guest, where a famous sporting champion dresses up as someone else like a hairdresser or someone visiting an aquarium. The two teams have to figure who it is. At the end of the show the team with the highest score wins. I always want Phil’s team to win. I love this show and I hope you do too.

You've Been Framed

You've Been Framed is a hilarious television show on ITV. People at home send in hilarious clips that they have caught on film at home, about basically anything funny. It is narrated by the comedian Harry Hill who also stars in Harry Hill’s TV burp. If you send in a video which is so funny that the producers decide to use it on the show, you get a chance to win a JVC camera, a laptop, £1,000 cash and a You've Been Framed goodie bag. The show was first aired on ITV on 14 April 1990 with Jeremy Beadle as the host. There became a few different hosts before there was Harry Hill but when Harry came along, instead of being a presenter, he was the narrator which meant he was a voice over so that more clips could be shown. They also used to only win £250 instead of £1,000. I really like You’ve Been Framed as it always make me laugh because Harry Hill make hilarious comments. If you watch it I guarantee you will like it.

Moshi Monsters!

Moshi Monsters is a world called Monstro City were you can interact with your own monster. When you get into the Moshi Monsters home page you can choose which monster you want. There are 5 monsters: Luvil, Poppet, Zommer, Furi and Diavlio. Then you can choose the colour. When you get in you will see your monster walk outside its house and then you will choose a name. You can design and decorate your own house. There are three roads: Sludge Street, Main Street and Ola la Lane. In Main Street there are two furniture shops where you can use some money called Rox.

You have to get to a certain level to buy certain things. When you get home from shopping you can click on a little treasure chest at the side and the items you bought will come up and you move them to where you want it to go. I enjoy using Moshi Monsters because I can play with my monster and also talk to my friends and family.

Have fun!

Jessie J

Jessie J is an English singer, who personally is my favourite singer at the moment. She was born on the 27th march 1988. Her first single was ‘Do it like a Dude’ and got to number 2 in the charts.

Jessie’s 2nd song, ‘Price tag’, was only released on the 28th of January 2011 and it flew straight into the charts, going all the way up to number 1!

At the 2011 Brit awards she won the Critic’s Choice award. When she went up to give a speech she was absolutely shocked, as she hadn’t prepared anything to say!

Jessie has now realised a new album and it’s called: ‘Who you are’ (I’m definitely getting that!)

I really can’t believe how far she has come in only 1 and a half years!

Crisis in Libya’s West border!

Protesters opposed to leader Muammar Gaddafi chant slogans in the city of Zawiya February 27, 2011In Libya demonstrators have started to spread all over the west border in order to try to get rid of their leader Colonel Gaddafi. They are unhappy because of the lack of democracy and matters such as not getting paid enough from the company they work for. Men are lined up round the west border of Libya with loaded guns in case Colonel Gaddafi’s forces try to attack the demonstrators again. Libya is a very dangerous place at the moment. There have been reports of pilots deliberately crashing their planes with passengers’ inside but parachuting themselves out so they don’t die. Meanwhile Colonel Gaddafi has not yet stepped down from being president of Libya.

cyber bullying

Cyber bullying is one of several different types of bullying.

Cyber bullying can be done via: text, emails, chat rooms or anything that includes something where you can’t directly see the person who you are talking to.
Over 40% of people in the UK get cyber bullied, which is a lot!
If you think you’re getting cyber bullied my advice is to ignore the person who is doing this to you and tell an adult. If you are a bit worried abut it and you don’t won’t to tell your parent(s) then write on a piece of paper to explain what has happened and put it on their bed.

Build a Bear Workshop

Build A Bear-Ville

Build A Bear-Ville is a virtual world connected to a shop in West Quay

Southampton called Build A Bear Workshop where you can make your own bear.

First you choose the bear you want, then you walk over to a machine where you stuff them. At the back of the bear there is a hole and on the end of the machine there is a tube, you put the hole on the end of the tube and hold a button with your foot and then it stuffs your bear!

The second bit is where you bathe your bear at the mini spa .You brush your bear and give it a bath!

After you have done that you choose the clothes and shoes, they always look really cute! If you ask a member of staff they will give you a free bow for your bear’s ear.

When you are all done you go to a computer and name your bear!

You get a birth certificate for your bear.

When you come home with your furry friend if you have a computer you can create an account on build a bear-Ville. On the website you can make a new character and you can name your character and give your character a make-over. When you log into account you go to a little shop (they have little shops in build a bear Ville)! The shop you click on is in the town square and its called build a bear workshop. When you get in you click on a little bear and he will wave! When you enter the shop you click on him and enter the code on your bear’s birth certificate. Then you will have your bear online too! You can get money for your character and maybe even a gift too! There are lots of games and you can also add friends. It’s very fun to play with and worth joining.

Letters to Juliet

Letters to Juliet is an amazing film which stars Amanda Seyfried, Chris Egan, Vanessa Redgrave, Gael Garcia Bernal and Franco Nero. Amanda Seyfried is a brilliant actress, she is my favourite! The DVD is on sale now for around £7.00. I think that you should definitely watch it because it is an exceptional, romantic drama!

William and Kates wedding

As you have probably heard, Prince William and, soon to be, Princess Kate Middleton, are getting married on Friday 29th of April at Westminster Abbey. This is where the queen was crowned in 1953 and where she got married in 1947. On that special day everyone also gets a day off to watch the wedding and celebrate! The couple got engaged when they were on holiday in Kenya in October. Kate also wants to change her name back to Catherine because she thinks it sounds more royal and queen-like. They would like everyone to join in the celebration with them, so hopefully you can join in as well by watching it on the TV!

Magic World

Magic World is a great theatre school for kids (age 6-16). We have a fair amount of children going - 54 - who all join in with the popular dances and songs. We also practise acting which is great fun. We put on a show every other half term (for example Pinocchio, the Lion King Etc.). Magic World is run by Samantha Clothier. The dance teacher is Fiona Wingrove and the singing teacher used to be Charlotte Hamilton until she went to university to do her exams (she will be returning next term). Now Samantha is our singing teacher and Alex is our new acting teacher!

Magic World is on every Thursday night from 4:30 – 7:30. It is great fun and I recommend Magic World to all the children who like performing!

Shake It Up

Shake It Up is a brand new show on Disney Channel and it’s amazing! It stars Bella Thorne who plays Cece and Zendaya who plays Cece’s best friend Rocky. Also Roshon Fegan from Camp Rock plays Rocky’s older brother in the show! The show is about a dance show called Shake it up Chicago. Cece and Rocky get a job to be dancers on the show and have a lot of fun on it. It’s really funny to watch, and did you know Selena Gomez sings the theme tune?! It is a great show and I absolutely love it!!!

Footloose

Footloose has just recently come to the Mayflower. It has been on for a short amount of time, but in that time there has been more than 1,000 people watching it! The film starred Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer and John Lithgow ; who were great actors. It is about a city boy who comes to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned and he tries to persuade the manager of the city to let the people in the town dance. It is a great show, the music is incredible and you should go and see it!
