Merlin

Merlin is a show that I watch and I really enjoy. The reason I enjoy it is because it’s all about magic. It’s really funny and not that scary! It is on at around 6:00pm on BBC. The main characters are Merlin, Arthur, Morgana, Gwen, Gaius and Uther. I love show and I think you will to!

Operation Christmas Child

Generosity is the key!!

Samaritan’s Purse take thousands of boxes every year for those children who are unfortunate in poor countries. At Orchard we have helped by putting together a box of presents!! You can help too!

Do you have a shoe box? Wrap it in Christmas paper.
Go to your local supermarket and buy socks, toothbrush and toothpaste, soft toys and anything that fits in a shoe box BUT NO CHOCOLATE!
Stick a label on it saying the age the box is aimed at and whether it’s for a girl or a boy. Match Attack cards are loved by boys but they don’t like any other cards! Little girls love dolls like Barbies and Bratz to plat with!

At Orchard School many children brought in boxes like these, which children will love!! You can help by bringing a box to your local church.

This film is about a ordinary schoolboy named Darren Shan, he goes to a freak show called Cirque du Freak, with his friend Steve. One of the performers is a vampire named Larten Crepsly, he performs with a deadly spider called Madam Octa. Darren steals it and it bites Steve. To get the antidote Darren must become a vampire, he travels with the cirque and helps out, but then evil vampires attack him. You’ll have to watch it to find out how it ends! It’s a great film but its quite scary!

The X Factor

The X Factor is a singing competition and it is now a live show. There are four groups. One person is knocked out each week. In Simon’s group, the boys, there is Jamie Archer, Olly Murs and Danyl Johnson. In Danni’s group, the girls, there is Lucie Jones, Rachel Adedeji and Stacy Solomon. In Louise’s group, for groups of singers, there is Miss Frank (a group of 3), John and Edward (a group of two) and Kandy Rain (a group of 4). Last of all there is Cheryl’s group, the boys, who are Lloyd Daniels, Joe McElderry and Rikki Loney. The host is Dermot O’Leary. I like it because I like singing and competitions.

Up

Up is a new Disney film. It is about an old man who puts lots of balloons in his chimney so he can fulfil his dream to fly in a house to Paradise Falls in South America! It all goes wrong when they float into a thunderstorm and the balloons run out of helium. They have to pull the house to the other side of the waterfall. They find the old mans hero in a cave and then he tries to kill them because he thinks they are trying to steal hid discovery. On their way they meet a giant, multicoloured bird called Snipe who likes eating balloons and chocolate! They also meet a dog who doesn't like squirrels. It is funny but it is quite sad at the beginning and it is a very interesting film.

Hairspray

Hairspray is a film that I recommend for children 6 and above because it is a PG. It has lots of songs including:

1. Good Morning Baltimore 2. The Nicest Kid In Town

3. "I want to be famous" 4. Meet Miss Baltimore Crabs

5. Detention Groove

It is set in 1962 and is about a girl called Tracy who loves to sing and dance. She has big hopes and dreams, for example to dance on "The Corny Collins Show". When her big chance arrives she dances her way into FAME and the eyes of Linkin Larkin, the pop star who all the girls love. But the stage manager is against her, so fashion queen Tracy will need her best friend Polly, her big hearted mum and the gorgeous co-host motormouth Maybelle to show the world that all you need to make your dream come true is a toe-tapping beat and a little bit of HAIRSPRAY!

Pet File - The Cat

Name: Cat
Eats:Cat food, birds and mice
Plays with:Ping pong balls, wall and string
A typical cat now lives 15-17 years. Yhe average cat
lifespan took a huge leap upwards when we started treating most cats
to an indoor lifestyle, and vets with modern medicine could look after them.
