The Wizard of Oz

Orchard School has some great actresses!

Charlotte Barrow, Elise Fehilly, Rosie Williams, Rhianna Jones and Laura Sibley all took part in auditions to get parts as Munchkins in‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton.

Comments on the Mayflower website say the girls were stunning every night. They have been working very long hours over the last few months.

The Munchkins have just finished their performances. On the last night they were all very sad, and some even cried.

The school is very proud to have these talented children.
We hope to see them on stage again in the future!

Orchard buds are growing

New buds are sprouting

Orchard Junior School have had twelve saplings, four Oaks and eight Acers, planted on the school's grassy field. However, the young trees will only grow to their full size when Year 3 is into Year 6.

Thoughtfully, Mr Carson, the Head teacher, has given each class the chance to take care of a magnificent tree until they grow to a humungous size.

Ellen Horne, in Year 6, says” I like the idea because it gives you shade, oxygen, a nice view and they look beautiful. I would love to take care of an Oak tree because they live to an old age. Overall it’s brilliant!”
We look forward to watching the trees grow!

Norovirus

People struck down by a stomach bug sweeping the UK have been urged not to go back to work.

Doctors are telling people not to go into hospitals, work or anywhere in public if they have the virus as it will cause it to spread further into those public places.

Doctors estimate that more than 100,000 people a week are catching the norovirus, which causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

My advice is to stay at home for 48 hours and rest.
Stay at home, so it will not spread and no one else can catch the bug. Everybody knows the saying ‘coughs and sneezes, spread diseases’.

Several children at Orchard have had it, so we have been told to wash our hands thoroughly before we eat and after we go to the toilet.
