This is a very moving book, I recommend it to Year 6 readers because of its adult content.
The main character is Bruno who one day comes home to find his father, a Nazi general and his German mother packing ready to move house because of his father’s promotion. When they arrive Bruno is shocked at the state of the house and misses home and having friends to play with. When he looks out of his bedroom window he is also shocked, as behind a huge fence at the bottom of his garden stands a concentration camp. When he makes an unlikely friend, considering his parentage, things start to go horribly wrong…
