School Council

Orchard Junior First School Council Meeting

Everyone met up for the first school council meeting of the school year. The meeting was led by Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Lawless and all the councillors got to meet one another.  The Chairperson needed to be elected and three councillors put themselves forward for the post.  Adam, Amy and Emily all wanted the position and they told the other council members why they should be the Chairperson.  The councillors all voted in secret and Emily was elected.  Adam and Amy took the secretary positions.

The council discussed the good things about the school including how the school is organised and the great sports teams that we have.  They decided that there were lots of opportunities for change and improvement.  They also discussed the things that maybe could be improved.

The councillors came away from the meeting with some good ideas that they were going to discuss with their classes.

This could be a very exciting time for Orchard with lots of new and interesting developments.

We will keep you posted!!!!

Tennis

Tennis
Tennis has been around for many years and has inspired many people. Harry Gem and his friend Augurio Perera invented the great game of tennis. Tennis rackets started with wooden frames where’s as rackets now they have metal frames. Murray is a tennis champion right now because he won gold in the Olympics and he won the U.S Open. You should play this sport because it is a good sport to use your wrists and run around a lot. Nadal, Federer and Jockavich are also popular tennis stars. I play for waterside tennis club. My lessons are from 6:00 pm 7:00pm. I started tennis because it was good for my health and it is good exercise.

My Dog Monty

My Dog Monty

My Dog Monty is a miniature Labradoodle. That is a cross between a miniature Poodle and a Labrador. He is about 1 and 3 months and has black curly fur. We got him when he was about 12 weeks and have had him for over a year. Ever since we got him he’s just stayed a big puppy and has never grown up!! Here are 10 reasons why Labradoodles are the best … 1. They don’t malt (which means they don’t shed there hair.) and that’s good for allergies.2. They are a great size for the house.3.They are a very intelligent breed of dog which means they can learn tricks and house training very quickly which is good for your carpets!!!4. They come in many different colours such as, white, cream, tan, coffee, brown, red, grey and black.5.They are child friendly.6.A females height is only 14-17 inches, and a male is also 14-17 inches.7. Also females are weigh only 25-40 pounds and males are 35-55 pounds.8. Labradoodle's coats are either the fleecy Retriever-shag (though a bit shorter), or a soft woolly Poodle-curl.9. They only need walking once or twice a day.10.They are good natured friendly and quite funny sometimes!! For example once my dog was lying on the sofa with my mum and mum went to the toilet. Her friend who was also there saw Monty look up and steal her glasses case, but don’t worry we got them of him!!! That’s why I think labradoodles are the, funniest, cutest, cleverest, friendliest, and all round the best dog in the world!!

my holiday

My holiday I went to Devon in Westwood Ho! We were right next to a beach all we had to do is go down the steps. And there were two restaurants and Mrs B ice cream parlour and an arcade and we lived in a blue apartment number 7. And my grandad won 20 teddies on a grabber’s machine and my brother won a computer it was a net book but it did not have Google. So he changed the net book at PC world so now he has Google so he can go on Moshi Monsters and stuff like that.
